About I3 Systems

I3 Systems is dedicated to the design, deployment, and support of advanced next generation IoT networks. These systems often support many applications from different suppliers and different IoT devices from different vendors. In these networks there are many different administrators where each administration is responsible for different components but they all work together to develop data-driven insights from data that crosses organizational structures.

I3 Systems was spun out of a research project conducted at the University of Southern California (USC) by the Viterbi School of Engineering and the Marshall School of Business. This research effort uncovered holes in traditional IoT systems that served to inhibit data collaboration among federated groups. Working with many outside parties these findings led to the creation of an opensouce consortium. Once the software was publicly released, I3 Systems was formed to commercialize the effort and drive the ecosystem beyond the bounds of academia.

I3 Systems personnel are world-class experts with the I3 Software from the I3 Consortium. They support IoT devices, support installation and support services, training, and customization of installation to meet specific customer needs

I3 Systems was founded as a corporation on February 11, 2020. The company is using SAFEs (Simple Agreement For Future Equity) to allow interested parties to participate in the formation of the company prior to our seeking outside capital. The Team

Jerry Power is a founder of the I3 Consortium, a community driven non-profit Internet-of-Things (IOT) organization which has created an opensource IOT data governance and marketplace to democratize IOT data networks. He is also the CEO and President of I3 Systems Inc, a company that was created to service and support IOT networks that span organizational and geographical constraints. The I3 concept, originally developed while at the University of Southern California in partnership with numerous regional companies and government agencies, took several years to evolve from an academic concept to a publicly available system to manage the confluence of many IOT data rivers. And with the formation of I3 Systems, a support structure is forming behind the opensource to provide the infrastructure needed by production environments. I3 recognizes the importance of privacy, trust, and incentives as enablers of technology adoption. This concept, melded with the need for an adaptable data flow management system, served to drive the efforts of the Consortium toward a user empowered data network paradigm that underlies the opensource project.

Prior to the formation of I3 Systems Inc., Jerry was the Executive Director of The Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM) and a member of the Marketing Faculty at University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.  CTM was actively engaged in identifying, understanding, and leveraging emerging trends driven by the rapid evolution of digital communications technologies and services in order to empower increased business effectiveness.

Jerry Power has over 30 years’ executive level experience at Alcatel-Lucent and Siemens in strategic marketing and business analysis in the communications industry.

Jerry has published numerous articles describing the impact of technology on business models and practices, network architectures, operational procedures, and users. His business research efforts have been discussed in both The Shift: The Evolving Market, Players and Business Models in a 2.0 World and Identity Shift: Where Identity Meets Technology in the Networked-Community Age. Jerry holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University and has served on multiple industry committees and boards focused on improving the telecommunication industry and uncovering new, sustainable business models across the ecosystem.

Jerry is also the co-author of the book “The Real Time Revolution: Transforming your organization to value customer Time” published by Berrrett-Koehler (ISBN: 978-1-5230-8563-7)

Jagjit Dhaliwal an IT Leader with 18+ years’ experience transforming public entities & Fortune 500 companies in various domains across multiple geographies through technology with main focus on IT transformation, Operations efficiencies, Enterprise initiatives, App modernization, the adaption of Emerging technologies.

 

Georgios Bouloukakis is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Irvine in the Distributed Systems Middleware and Information Systems groups. His current research has focused on the design of extensible and efficient IoT systems by leveraging fundamental mathematical models and state-of-the-art technologies. Georgios obtained his Ph.D. from UPMC/Sorbonne, conducting his thesis at the research center of Inria Paris in the MiMove team in France.

 

Kenneth Hayashida, Jr., M.D., is a board-certified pediatrician and licensed physician in California and Hawaii. He has served on the Community Advisory Board for a 600-bed, four facility program in Los Angeles County. As a former adjunct faculty member at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, Ken has worked with USC faculty and graduate level students in the Marshall School of Business, Viterbi School of Engineering, and Keck School of Medicine of USC. These teams developed technical concepts for use in healthcare. Some of the teams have won national competitions, have been recognized at national competitions. These initiatives have created health applications and medical devices suitable for use across a variety of patient acuity levels.

As a community-based pediatrician, Ken was on medical staff at multiple community hospitals and children’s hospitals. He provided care to thousands of newborns, infants, and children, and maintained contracting with most major health insurers in California and Hawaii.
